st. matthews

St Matthews Primary school was one of two schools constructed by Plymouth City Council. With school places required for the start of the academic year, Sunesis had a tight time scale to work to.
This three storey Sunesis build was completed five weeks ahead of schedule.

“I must commend the high standard of the finished product and thank all involved in delivering such a magnificent school. This is the best standard of delivery achieved by a contractor working for Plymouth City Council.”

challenges

Late start

A delayed project order for Plymouth City Council resulted in a significantly reduced pre-construction and mobilisation period. This, teamed with complicated pre-commencement and occupation planning conditions, left little time for anything other than the upmost efficiency.

Knotweed

The presence of knotweed on the build site also caused issues for the build as it needed to be eradicated before the construction could begin.

Fastest ever build

In spite of a late start, St Matthews was the fastest Sunesis Dewey model built to date. Completed in 39 weeks, five weeks earlier than programmed, with zero defects at handover.
